Reggie's great grandfather, Bonzo, is best remembered for his sublime comedy timing, co-starring with Ronald Reagan in the 50's television smash, Bedtime for Bonzo. At the same time half way around the world in Rwanda, great grandmother Matilda was emerging as one of Dian Fossey's most studied subjects, in a story later memorialized by Sigourney Weaver in Gorillas in the Mist.
Reggie grew up on a houseboat in the Netherlands. His hippie parents, Moonbeam and Serenity, were in Berkeley living off the family trust fund when he was born. They expatriated to Europe after one too many disheartening US Presidential elections. Swinging from canal house to canal house, young Reggie got a taste for the spotlight, entertaining bleary-eyed tourists who were sure they had seen a green gorilla. Ignoring his parents' advice, Reggie moved to America to carry on the family show biz tradition.
Picking up bit work here and there, Reggie spent most of the 90's bouncing between 2nd rate circuses and zoos. Finally he got what he believed to be his big break with a featured role in Peter Jackson's 2005 blockbuster King Kong. After poor focus groups scores, however, Reggie's performance ended up on the cutting room floor. Reggie quickly grew disillusioned with the entertainment industry, relocating to Phoenix for its "mild" climate. It didn't take long for him to get caged up by David and Sam PR, who signed him to a 20,000,000 banana deal as their exclusive pitchman and mascot.
When Reggie can break away from his duties at the Studio, he likes to sit court side at US Airways Center for Suns games to show his support for the famous half brother his father continues to shun (that's a separate story).
